Rise Health Centre

I had the pleasure of creating this mural for RISE Community Health Centre in the lovely neighborhood of Joyce Collingwood. In July RISE was finally able to have a grand opening for its health facilities and I was invited to unveil my mural and talk about my inspirations behind the design.

At the time of painting, I was feeling pretty emo because I found out how bad my ADHD really was and how much it was affecting my life for the first time in like 10 years. I was also in a rut artistically and felt like I wasn’t offered that many opportunities after Mural Fest. I would work on this mural after my shitty 9-5 corporate job, blast sad girl playlists, sing, eat snacks, cry, and meditate.

This piece means so much to me and I am so happy that I was able to be a part of this awesome project and give back. Everyone deserves to live in a healthy community that uplifts and supports them. I’m glad to know that RISE helps those who are regularly neglected by the healthcare system and I hope this inspires more clinics to adapt their spirit of inclusion and equity.
